Roles and Responsibilities:
- Understand various phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Conduct impact assessment of change requests against applications/products within the domain.
- Create/review component designs & builds to ensure compatibility with the end-to-end system design.
- Develop/review test strategies to ensure the quality of the delivered system and assist in diagnosing system problems encountered during testing.
- Collaborate with other component design and build teams to ensure the end-to-end system design is followed.
- Ensure technical engineering quality standards/benchmarks are met and take remedial action where quality falls short.
- Complete technically complex assignment work within budget, time, and quality requirements.
- Document all work in accordance with agreed standards and with reusability in mind.
- Collaborate with Systems Designers from other areas to ensure end-to-end technical integrity of the development.
- Identify development needs of staff in the system engineering component team and assist them in addressing their development needs through guidance and coaching.
- Contribute to operational objectives of the wider team and support any organizational transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate and review emerging system engineering methods, tools, and standards and apply them as appropriate.
- Identify own development needs and proactively drive development of own capability to achieve world-class standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in end-to-end software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies such as waterfall and agile.
- Familiarity with leading-edge tools, techniques, and services within IT.
- Experience with software development using Java, J2EE Frameworks (Spring, Hibernate), databases (Oracle/DB2/SQL/IMS DEDB), Webservices (SOAP & REST), JQuery/HTML5/CSS, XML & XML Java Parsers (xsd, dtd), application servers (JBoss, Tomcat), and version control software (Clearcase/SVN/CVS/Git).
- Ability to interact with staff across Business and IT functions including IT Architects, Service Managers, Freshers jobs Technology Project Managers, Business Change Managers, SI Partners, 3rd parties, GTS, and GTIS.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
Additional Skills (Desirable):
- Experience in creating API specifications using OAS.
- Working knowledge of Cloud platforms such as AWS and Openshift V3.
- Understanding of Microservices architecture, service mesh/discovery, and Design Patterns.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools like Stash, Jenkins, Nexus, Confluence, Sonarqube, and Openshift.
